I've been lucky to have been to Machu Picchu three times! Machu Picchu is truly awe inspiring. I took the train from Cuzco each time I've been there and just traveling through the mountains and approaching Aguas Calientes with the powerful Urubamba River next to you was just amazing. The first time there was over 25 years ago and there was hardly anyone visiting Machu Picchu at that time. I felt I like I had it all to myself. I recently heard you now have to make reservations far in advance to visit.
I went to Barcelona a few years ago after partially hiking the Camino de Santiago. Walking around Barcelona was so enjoyable. It is packed full of interesting sites and cafes, restaurants and historical buildings. Of course my favorites are all created by Gaudi.....Casa Batllo, Park Guell and the Sagrada Familia.
I was in an international art show, The Qatar International Art Festival in 2021. This was my first time in the Middle East and I loved Qatar. The art festival was wonderful and I met people from all over the world. The painting was inspired by their famous Souq Waqif Market.
This is a large silk painting of beautiful Maui. When I lived in Los Angeles I went to Maui many times. I usually stayed in Napili Bay but the whole island is beautiful. The area I painted is Lahaina. I find that silk paint really lends itself well to painting water and I love the bright colors.
Florence is so captivating and so much fun to paint. Here are some photos and you'll see why I fell in love with Florence. My old dog, Beau, went everywhere with me and he loved to pose. I was there on my birthday 10 years ago but it feels like yesterday. I lived in France during that time and took a lot of road trips. Wandering around Florence was wonderful, interesting and I didn't want to leave. By the way, the young man in the blue shirt is my son, Vinnie.
