Souq, Waqif - Watercolor and Ink

I wanted to share photos that inspired my painting, Souq Waqif.

I participated in the Qatar International Art Festival in October 2021.  I exhibited a painting as well as presented to an audience my methods of painting on silks.  I took many photos around Doha and always ended up in the Souq Waqif in the evenings.  The Souq Waqif is an important heritage market in Qatar and is also a major tourism landmark. According to historians in Qatar the souq dates back to around 250 years. The sellers used to stand at the entrances to display their wares, spices, cumin, cinammon, fish and clothes.
